Mingle: For a limited time only...
Who: Everyone!
Where: Anywhere on the hub
When: Days 134-139
Open/Closed: Open mingle goooo!
[Copper, lizards, and vines - oh my! With the recent installation of 9S and co.'s scanning equipment and the also recent, significantly wetter rainstorms there's quite a lot to check out on the island right now.Plus, the monitor robot still needs a name. You're not going to leave them nameless forever, are you?
Too bad Genette's put out word that everyone's about to be moving location soon. That means these are the last days the coven has for a little while to get everything in order, whether it's to take things to the next destination or to leave them behind. Get your bags packed and your huts cleaned, everyone!]

[Geir shifts his bulk slightly to reveal one fo the rocks he's leaning against: it's meant as an inviting gesture, exposing a comfortable backrest. maybe-- well, he can at least try. Shirley seems like she needs a place to relax.]
Why don't you sit for a while? We can watch'em together. I bet they wouldn't mind.
no subject
[Shirley really hadn't expected the invitation. She's not really someone that people invite, whether or not they're talking dragons. She's not sure why Geir would be inclined to invite her, either, but in this case it works in his favor. Talking dragons aren't something she's really good at understanding, but frankly knowing that off the bat might do her better than her track record with people in general. So she nods, and she sits down with Geir.]
Thank you.

it's peaceful like this. Geir is relaxed. for now, he'll wait without impatience to see if Shirley catches the mood or decides to speak first, before breaking the silence himself.]
no subject
It is quite pleasant like this, though. Even if she's not saying anything, Geir can probably see Shirley relaxing in her seat as time goes on.]

I think they're plant eaters, not meat. They've got those funny little flat faces. Wonder what they eat on a bunch of rocks...
[there's moss and bugs here, but admittedly those don't look particularly appetizing to him.]
no subject
[Now that's curious. Not the kind of observation Shirley expected him to make, but then again it's not like she knows what's common dragon knowledge or anything. Or common knowledge for people who live around lizards, maybe.]
no subject
[Geir lifts the claws of one foot from the ground and taps one of them lightly on his long jaw. ]
See how long my face is? There are a lot of teeth in there. Their heads are a little taller, and they've got short noses. I think they need to grind up plants with their teeth, not meat.
[he lowers his claw again, and puts his chin on it instead, leaning on it as a headrest so he can curve his nose around to look at her. now he can keep a conversational eye on both Shirley and the lizards.]
I used to watch a lot of other things go by and think about them when I was younger. Sometimes you can tell a little bit.
no subject
[Shirley sounds a little impressed, and she is. She brings up her hand to her face absentmindedly as if to check her own teeth and face, even though she's a Ferines and not any kind of reptilian.
She looks back out to the lizards.]
Do you think there might be any moss nearby? Maybe they could eat that.
no subject
[Geir sounds genuinely interested, and in fact, he is. he's been watching the little lizards scurry for a couple of hours now. he wouldn't mind knowing a bit more about them.]
You must have been working really hard to find one and then keep up with it like that.
no subject
[Is that weird? Shirley hopes that wasn't weird.]
no subject
[if Geir thinks it's weird, he at least isn't expressing it. in fact, in this case, he doesn't see anything strange about it. Shirley literally follows up on things that interest her. what's wrong with that?]
Maybe they go away from their homes to find food and then come back here to sleep.
no subject
So...kind of like people do?
no subject
[Geir doesn't have any experience with the "full stomach" part of that equation, but he's had the barest taste of it now and then -- enough to confirm that he finds the theory sound.]
Most lizards don't move very fast, though. They like to soak up the heat. So these guys must have something else going on... is that why they can heal people?
[he shifts his big head just a little, so his nose is sitting right next to one of the lizards' boulders. perhaps one will come out where he can examine it more closely!]
Maybe they'll think I'm a rock.
no subject
You'll be a really big rock.
no subject
[he says that last in an undertone, barely moving his jaw, and then returns to quiet. he needs to be a rock, after all!
...sooner or later, one of the little lizards DOES poke its nose out from under the boulder and squint suspiciously around. Geir holds his breath, eyes wide and fixed on the tiny reptile.]
no subject
She will be watching intently though, and she's guessing Geir will be too.]
no subject
then, suddenly, it darts under Geir's chin. Geir stares at Shirley with wide, almost comically startled eyes. what to do now?!]
Eep--
no subject
She reaches out her arms and makes to grab the lizard, but it occurs to her that they also don't want to scare it off. Does Geir think it's worth chasing off the lizard to get it off him? She looks to him again to check.]
no subject
I-if I pick my head up, do you think you could grab it? I'm too big!
[he's not bad at handling small objects -- incredibly good, in fact, considering his size and the tools he has for it, in fact -- but moving as fast as he would have to in order to hit the lizard with his claws, he can't imagine not squishing it by accident. an elephant can pick an egg up, but grabbing a moving egg while it's trying to get away from you is a different thing!]
no subject
I don't know!
[Because she can try, but honestly she feels like she's just going to mess it up somehow.]
no subject
[of all the things that could happen here, Geir doesn't honestly mind that much if the lizard ends up escaping. on a list of awful fates from a scale of one to ten, not learning as much about these strange little bandage making machines of nature is somewhere in the negative scale. and in the meantime, one of them is wriggling, ticklish, under his chin.]
Tell me when!
no subject
Okay. I'll count, then. Three, two, one...now!
no subject
no subject
Oh...
no subject
[Geir tries his best to peer under the other boulder, but his eye simply doesn't go that close to the ground, no matter how absurdly he twists his head around. there's too much nose or eye ridge in the way.
he doesn't seem mad about the escape...]
Was it slippery?
