[He gets to his feet, still looking out towards the ocean, which is as peaceful and impassive as ever. His voice is quiet, strained.]

I made a choice that no one in the world would consider right. What I did could lead to war and the loss of countless lives. It could completely destroy any hope of obtaining peace on the Legacy. I did it for my own selfish reasons, and I don't--I don't regret it. Does it really matter what those reasons are?

[Because that's the thing. As much as he wants to say he had no choice--he did, and he chose the opposite of what a good person, a moral person, a person weighing right and wrong would do. He chose based on the things he cared about, and nothing else.]
